Featured selections of current work include From Alabama to Maine, a body of work numbering over 300 sketches, drawings and paintings, rendered in conversation with American Art history.

From Alabama to Maine traces Sarah West’s creative heritage from her home in the deep south to Pennsylvania, New York and Maine. Her paintings present meditations depicting significant sites reflecting the creative canons established by the Brandywine River School, Ashcan School, Hudson River School and the Wyeth Family Legacy.

The Civility Paintings | Sarah West

“I knew the wild riders and the vacant land were about to vanish forever… and the more I considered the subject, the bigger the forever loomed. Without knowing how to do it, I began to record some facts around me, and the more I looked, the more the panorama unfolded.”

-Frederic Remington
