The Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art, A Center for Cultural Arts is Smiths Station, Alabama’s premiere fine arts destination. Nestled within the small southern town along the central railroad, the Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art is an all-inclusive, multi-disciplinary center for culturally enriching fine arts education as well as advocate for community sustainability, nature conservation, historic preservation and cultural awareness.

Founded by Sarah West in 2008, the Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art recognized a growing need for arts and cultural involvements within the community and region. Established as a Visual Artist, Sarah West then turned her attention to fine arts education by creating programs centered around fine art classes, workshops and courses of study for aspiring artists of all ages and skill levels. Year round, the Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art opens its studio doors to the ever-growing community of creatives and cultural appreciators by offering classes designed to cultivate and further creative skills. The Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art also serves as studio home to both founder, Sarah West and co-founder, Michele West. The artists maintain studios within the art center, where each continually create works of visual, written and progressive art. Continuing our mission to nurture deep roots in the American South, in 2026 The Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art, A Center for Cultural Arts relocated from 2750 Panther Parkway to historic Lawson Farms at 389 Summerville Road.

Located an hour and half south of Atlanta, the Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art is a 30 minute drive from both Auburn University Campus, Auburn, Alabama and Fort Benning/ Columbus, Georgia, Lawson Farms is a historic farm and cultural site.

Lawson Farms honors the legacy of generational farm families [Wade, Hays, Lawson and Ivey,] the academic legacy of Professor Oliver Turney Ivey who championed the Cultural Approach to Teaching History and Southern Writer, Caroline Lawson Ivey whose first published novel, The Family (1952) sold over 4,000 in its’ first printing. Lawson Farms is home to The Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art, A Center for Cultural Arts, studios of American Narrative Artist/ Fine Arts Educator, Sarah West and Portrait Artist/ Fine Arts Educator, Michele West.
