The Sarah West Artistic Mentoring Scholarship for Continued Fine Art Education
The Sarah West Artistic Mentoring Scholarship for Continued Fine Art Education is awarded to students within our area Smiths Station and Salem Elementary Schools. Participating schools and educators award equally distributed scholarships to elected students throughout the school year. This scholarship was founded upon desire to facilitate and fulfill a need within our community. Due to limited funding for cultural arts on both educational and civic levels, and also due to economic circumstances, the Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art felt compelled to bridge the gap. Through this scholarship program individuals are given a chance to pursue intellectual, creative and physical potential through the study of art. This scholarship affords individuals regardless of personal circumstance with an opportunity to explore and develop aspirations, increase skill for problem solving, strengthen attention span, social interaction, motor skills and creative development meanwhile gain a cultural education that otherwise may not be attainable for them due to their current circumstances.
